Sled Dog Racing Comes Back to Vermont!

The first sled dog race held in Vermont since the Burke Mountain Sled Dog Dash will be on the Lamoille ValleyRail Trail. The sled dog race will be a two day event, beginning January 20 in Morrisville. There is a minimum $2,000 purse. The International Sled Dog Racing Association has sanctioned this race. The race is an out and back trail and will include head on passing.

There are eight different race levels, Pro, Sportsman, and Junior.

Pro-Class, Entry Fee, Race Distance:

One and Two Dog Skijor, $35, six miles Four Dog, $35, four miles
Six Dog, $35, six miles
Eight Dog, $40, eleven miles Unlimited, $40, eleven miles

Sportsman Class, Entry Fee, Race Distance:

Four Dog, $25, four miles
Six Dog, $25, six miles

Junior Class, Entry Fee, Race Distance:

Three Dog, $10, four miles

There will be a driver’s meeting and bib draw Friday night at the Charlmont Restaurant beginning at 7pm.

The sled dog race will start and end at 10 Railroad Street. Parking is available at Oxbow Riverfront Park for competitors.
